The new WBCS Preliminary exam pattern
From WBCS 2025, the Preliminary consists of two objective papers. Both are compulsory; GS Paper II is qualifying with a 33% minimum.
General Studies Paper I
200 questions · 200 marks · 2 hours
English Composition, General Science, current events, History, Geography with West Bengal, Polity and Economy, the National Movement, and Environment and Climate Change.
General Studies Paper II
200 questions · 200 marks · 2 hours
Comprehension, communication, logical reasoning, decision making, mental ability, basic numeracy and data interpretation. This paper is qualifying at 33%.
Why the mock series is structured as 20 papers
ChakriPath’s WBCS 2025 series is planned as ten complete paired simulations: ten GS Paper I papers and ten GS Paper II papers. This is more honest than repackaging the earlier 200-question single-paper mocks as “new pattern”.
