What a useful PYQ analysis does
A previous-year paper cannot predict the next paper question by question. It can, however, show the level of recall expected, how arithmetic is framed, how answer choices are written and which mistakes cost marks under time. Your analysis should therefore produce a study decision, not just a list of subjects.
Compare the papers in four passes
- Knowledge: mark questions you could answer directly and those that exposed a missing fact or rule.
- Method: identify arithmetic questions where the correct method was known but execution failed.
- Choice quality: separate confident answers, educated eliminations and blind guesses.
- Pace: note clusters that consumed disproportionate time.

Group errors under General Studies, Arithmetic and the smaller topic labels that are useful to you. Count only what you have actually reviewed. A short, evidence-based weak-topic list is more valuable than a generic subject checklist.
An answer you recognise is not yet an answer you can produce
After reading the key, close the page and explain why the correct option is right. Reattempt the paper later in test mode. This separates familiarity from retrievable knowledge.
